Hivel Und Dahl received many copies of 3 prints from W. F. Michaud, who was a local artist, but now lives in California.
The prints are: A farm located at the intersection of King’s Highway and Rock Rd. south of Zionsville; A barn on Geissinger Rd (formerly the Hoffman farm; A wooded scene – not sure of location.
The prints are 14″ x 18″ including a 1 1/2″ white border. The cost per print is $5. If you would like a print, they can be purchased at our meeting on September 28 or November 30 or by emailing isbarmill@ptd.net.
The Schubert-Graber Cabin (Log-Post Shop) is now on the National Register of Historic Places!
The purpose of the Hivel Und Dahl Preservation Society is to preserve the historic landmarks, culture, and traditions of Upper and Lower Milford Townships of Pennsylvania, and to provide a forum for education and research.
The Hivel Und Dahl Preservation Society holds quarterly meetings at the Upper Milford Township Building @ 7:00 pm, unless otherwise noted.

March 26 An Evening with Steve Brosky Come and be entertained by Steve Brosky – subject of the play, “Living Here in Allentown”, and 1983 recipient of the keys to the city. The bard of Allentown will tell in song and story about growing up in the 6th ward, shipping off to Vietnam and 40 years of life as a saloon singer. Don’t miss this experience of living history!
June 25 Moving Traditions of the Pennsylvania Germans Bob Roeder, Editor of the Town and Country, will present the program. Hear about their traditions, superstitions, and how they moved out of their old home and into the new one.
September 24 Cider Making and History of Bauman’s Cider History of apple cider and the story of the Bauman Family Apple Butter business in Sassamansville. Sample Bauman’s cider and fruit butters.
November 26 Lotteries in Early America: Funding Public Projects From the settlement in Jamestown, VA to the early 1800’s, lotteries were used to fund bridges, churches, and many other public projects. Program presented by Edward Johnson.

June 27 The History of the Allentown Works of Western Electric Doug Peters – The Allentown Works of Western Electric opened 75 years ago. Hear about its history and the important role it played in the manufacturing of the transistor. Doug was an employee at the plant for many years.

November 28 Harvest Home Celebration – The original PA German Thanksgiving Bob Gerhart – From long before President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed the last Thursday in November as a National Day of Thanksgiving in 1863, PA Germans throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania had expressed their gratitude to God for another year of harvests to sustain their families and communities. The Day of Harvest Home Service was a highlight of the fall season in PA Dutch communities.
